 Museum of the University/ Old Assembly Hall Â
 Homepage: www.uni-heidelberg.de  Student’s Prison  The student’s detention cell in former times served as a prison for ill-mannered students. Today it belongs to the Student’s Museum of the Old University Heidelberg. Often students of the many student societies served sentence here and immortalised themselves with numerous colourful paintings on the wall. Â

 Homepage: www.uni-heidelberg.de   House of Knight St. George The house of Knight St. George, built in 1592, is the oldest house left in Heidelberg. Today it is classified as a historical monument and offers accommodation for hotel guests. Already 300 years ago it was used as an inn. It is situated in the middle of the Old Town, opposite the Church of the Holy Spirit.  Old Bridge Real name: Karl-Theodor-Brücke. It was built in 1788 during the time of Electoral Prince Karl-Theodor. It was erected on the remains of altogether 8 former bridges. It connects the Old Town with the opposite Neckar bank. Today it belongs to one of the most well-known sights of Heidelberg and is used nowadays mainly as a pedestrian bridge. A marvellous sight is the bridge gate on the south end side.   Philosopher’s Walk The Philosopher’s Walk is approximately 2 km long. It leads from the district of Neuenheim to the Heiligenberg (Mountain of the Saints). It is located opposite the castle on the other side of the river. You can reach the Philiosopher’s Walk via Schlangenweg (Snake’s Path), too. You only have to walk across the Old Bridge. A marvellous view across the whole Old Town, the mountain Königsstuhl and the castle is waiting for you there. During your promenade you will find many exotic plants in the gardens.  Untere Straße (Lower Street) The Lower Street is the pub mile in Heidelberg’s Old Town and runs parallel to Main Street (shopping area, pedestrian zone).  Church of the Holy Spirit Right in the middle of the Old Town on the Market Place the biggest and most important church of Heidelberg is to be seen. It was erected from 1398 until 1515. It was the burial place of the Electoral Princes of Palatine. It was also known as the former location of the bibliotheca palatine. In Heidelberg’s university library unfortunately only few of the 5000 books and 3524 manuscripts can be found nowadays.  Homepage: www.heiliggeistkirche.de   Saint Peter’s Church Saint Peter’s Church is the oldest church in the Old Town. Since 1896 it is the church for the university. Already from the middle ages on it serverd as university chapel. It was erected in the 12th century and is even older than the town itself.
