Location - Hotel Perkeo Print

The Hotel Perkeo got it’s name from the famous court jester, the dwarf Perkeo, who lived in Heidelberg Castle in the 18th century. He was the guardian of the Big Barrel (capacity 221 726 litres) and well known for never refusing a glass of wine (per que no? – Why not?). Legend says that he died after drinking a glass of water.

Our hotel is located in the middle of the Main Street, half way from the beginning of the Old Town, Bismarckplatz, to the church of the Holy Spirit and the Market Place, the former center of the town. Here you can go shopping to your heart’s content. In close range you find labels like H+M, Marco Polo or Fielmann. Well known cafés like Cafe Schafheutle and Cafe Strohauer invite you to come in. Good plain meals are served in the Restaurant Schnitzelbank or Kurpfälzisches Museum. Heidelberg Castle, Old Bridge and the Convention Hall can be reached by foot in only a few minutes. In the hotel building the restaurant Perkeo is located which serves homely and varied food.
